This day was one for the record books! Derek and Hana’s wedding at Stone Crossing was a very special day because they are not only great friends of ours, but this was my first full day wedding.

How I landed my first wedding at Stone Crossing

Weddings are basically the “Photography Olympics” for me. I knew as soon as Hana and Derek booked their wedding at the beautiful Stone Crossing Venue I would need to focus a lot of my time and energy into getting myself prepared leading up to their wedding date on Sept. 12, 2021.

In order to prepare for their wedding day I first found a mentor. Maija Karin Photography was the ticket I needed to help me get the experience and education I needed to be ready to photograph weddings on my own.

I also upgraded some of my equipment and learned how to use it (More like a crash course! Hello-off-camera-flash!). A combination of second-shooting at weddings with Maija and getting more experience photographing more people than I ever had before, gave me the confidence I needed to document Derek and Hana’s wedding day so successfully!

Importance of engagement sessions

I also loved getting to know Derek and Hana during their engagement shoot in June. My full day wedding packages come with a complimentary engagement session. This gives me an opportunity to get to know the couple ahead of time in a more relaxed setting. The engagement shoot also allows me see what poses looks good on them and what works to pull that emotion out.

Their wedding day at Stone Crossing was a dream! What really helped the day move flawlessly was the timeline. Timelines are so important! We were able to stick to the timeline pretty closely which allowed me the time I needed to document their special day. I am so incredibly thankful that Derek and Hana trusted me and I felt just so honored to be apart of their wedding day.

I loved every part of their wedding and I’m so excited to share their photos with all of you! Derek and Hana, what a gift it is to call you friends and clients! Thank you for trusting me with this huge responsibility! I am so proud of how true-to-life the pictures I captured make me relive and feel the joy and love of your wedding day.
