Idaho Capitol Winter Elopement | Kelly + Brandon

Kelly and Brandon decided to have a small, intimate, and intentional day celebrating the two of them at the Boise Idaho Capitol building for their winter elopement on 12/27/23.
Winter elopement in Boise Idaho
I first met Kelly and Brandon on the phone before booking their elopement. They have been together over a year and are expecting their first child! We bonded over our shared love of outdoor activities. They were drawn to my natural style of editing and storytelling. The couple lives in California and has family in the Boise, Idaho area, so they decided to get married at the Idaho Capitol. When I met them on that cold winter day of their elopement, we click right away! They were so much fun! I loved their excitement and willingness to go along with all my ideas too. Kelly’s beautiful dress was from David’s Bridal.
Finding the best spot inside the Idaho Capitol building for the elopement
This was my first time doing an elopement inside the Boise Idaho Capitol building. (I have done lots of photo sessions outside!) I made a separate trip and visited the Boise Idaho Capitol building and found that I really loved the 4th floor. The natural lighting was good and it seemed more quiet from all the people up there.
On the day of Kelly and Brandon’s elopement we stayed on the 4th floor for majority of the time. I am glad that I brought my off-camera flash. It made editing and getting sharp images so much easier! I loved shooting at the Boise Idaho Capitol building with the elegant marble and geometric patterns. The Capitol building made the perfect setting for Kelly and Brandon’s elopement.
Kelly had her brother-in-law officiate during the ceremony. I felt to luckily to be inside the Capitol building, where we all kept nice and warm on that cold December day. After all the of formal family photos were done, we then spent the remainder of time together outside, roaming around the building.
Elope for free at the Capitol
Fun fact about the Boise Idaho Capitol Building! Did you know that it’s completely FREE to get married/elope inside the Boise Idaho Capitol? You can read more about the Capitol here. You can show up pretty much anytime and conduct your own elopement (bring your own officiant). Although you may have to deal with people roaming around, since the building is a public area. Luckily I had a really nice family member that day that helped me kindly ask people in the background to keep moving along during the ceremony.
It was a beautiful day celebrating Kelly + Brandon at the Boise Idaho Capitol. I loved sharing these special moments with them and their close family members. This was a perfect end of my year and last session of 2023!

Beautiful photos, Julia!! That looks like an amazing location for lighting. Congratulations to the newly married couple!
